"Geirskogul, known as Wind Valkyrie, is a Valkyrie who love freedom and adventure. She may be the weakest out of four, but she is the fastest."
― Description of Geirskogul Armor

Geirskogul is a Valkyrie Armor that specializes in elemental wind spear and/or sword combat. Whoever wields the Armor shall take the title of Geirskogul the Courageous Gale Valkyrie or Wind Valkyrie. The current bearer of the Armor is Lotte Yanson.

Description & Characteristics[]

Geirskogul is a Valkyrie Armor with yellow and white coloration and silver parts as well as one of four Elemental Valkyries. Alongside its sister Armors Kara, Skogul, and Eir as well as Geirdriful, Geirskogul was said to be forged by Ingrid and her disciples out of original variant of Solais Metal which in turn, made by having iron smelted with scales of Great Lindworm and quenched in blessed water to harden it, explaining its greater capabilities than Valkyrie Armors after them despite being prototypes as well as possessing the peculiar ability to attain temporary upgrades. Bearers of this Armor are said to love freedom and adventure.

Geirskogul Armor was passed down from master to apprentice over the course of generations and originally in possession of elite members of European branch of Valkyrie Corps. alongside Kara and Skogul. However, during Naglfar's resurgence in the light of the restoration of Yggdrasil, the three Valkyrie Armors' latest heirs were killed in combat against the neopagan cult, prompting German the Heart to set out to find their immediate successors at Luna Nova. Though the Thapoli-Naglfar War veteran was perished in said final mission, he managed to pass the Armors to Akko, Lotte, and Sucy who subsequently became their new heirs in his last moments.

Skills & Abilities[]

As with other Valkyrie Armors, Geirskogul was designed to endow the wearer with increased strength, speed, and magical capabilities. Made from Solais Metal, the Armor can withstand magical and physical attacks and its power can be used even in Ley Lines-free areas. The Armor is also empowered by the wearer's fuel spirit (energy generated by one's emotions and feelings), with its circuit-like green meridians glow upon being charged with the said energy. While its overall capabilities are relative to the wearer's own might, Geirskogul's combat parameters are nonetheless above average compared to typical Valkyrie Armors despite being weakest in terms of defense and offense compensated only by its great speed, making it a formidable fragile speedster.

For combat, since the Armor specializes in elemental wind spear and/or sword combat, the wearer has greater advantage when using either spear or sword or both (ex. Valkyrie Blade in its enchanted spear or sword configuration) as Geirskogul improves her performance with such weapons, especially in conjunction of Wind Magic spells.

Geirskogul has an affinity with the element of wind and the secret of its great mobility is the ability to conjure a cloak of wind about the wearer which not only bolster her speed and agility, but also allow her to run at incredible speeds in short bursts, appearing as a distorted blur while doing so. The Armor is also outfitted with a pair of small magic broom-like devices on the hip area infused with Wind Magic called Gale Thrusters that, upon being activated at the wearer's will, allow her to glide through the air thus cover up considerable distance in the battlefield.

As with other Valkyrie Armors, Geirskogul can unlock a boost in mobility that is unleashed by sprouting a pair of mechanical wings which also provide powered flight without need of magic broom. The wings, Ephemeral Wings, can also be empowered by the Armor's very elemental magic thus enable the wearer to vanquish enemies instantly. In conjunction of the aforementioned wind aura quirk and Gale Thrusters, the skilled wearer can perform devastating hit-and-run tactics which beneficial in ensuring her and her sisters-in-arms' victory over their enemies. Another ability Geirskogul shared with its sister Armors beside Ephemeral Wings is temporarily assuming more powerful alternate forms upon exposed and/or influenced by powerful magic and feelings from the user and/or allies. Though said forms only lasted until energies that fuel them being spent, the wearer can regain said upgrades with their respective power. Overall, the Armor lives up to its title as Courageous Gale Valkyrie.

Weapons & Equipments[]

In addition of the user's own equipment such as Valkyrie Blade and Magic Wand, Geirskogul possesses following equipment:

  • Geirskogul Bracelet: The vital part of Geirskogul Armor which acts as both its dormant form and summoning trinket. It takes the appearance of metallic yellow bracelet with thicker edge and a symbol in form of a golden circle containing matching four-pointed star inside. This part magically linked with the rest of the Armor that normally stored in pocket dimension when not used.
  • Ephemeral Wings: A pair of mechanical wings which drastically increases the user's mobility and provide powered flight without need of magic broom. It can also be infused with Geirskogul's very elemental magic to bolster its performance.
  • Gale Thrusters: A pair of small magic broom-like devices outfitted on the hip area and infused with Wind Magic that provide the ability to glide through the air, covering up considerable distance in the battlefield. If used in conjunction of Ephemeral Wings and Armor's wind aura quirk, dramatically bolsters her mobility.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • In Norse Mythology, Skögul (ON: "Shaker" or "High-towering") and Geirskögul (ON: "Spear-skögul") are Valkyries who alternately appear as separate or individual figures, featured in Heimskringla where they seem to be the same being and are otherwise listed separately in the Valkyrie Lists in the Poetic Edda poems Völuspá and Grímnismál.
  • BSoulstone's statement about Geirskogul Armor:
"The next Valkyrie Armors I designed after Eir and Kara was Geirskogul under the working name Yellow Valkyrie and the simplest of four Elemental Valkyries design-wise yet elaborate enough to set it apart from mass-produced Valkyrie Armors I came up later on. It's true that I originally intended it to specialized in elemental wind spear combat which fit to Lotte whom trademark medieval weapon being spear as well, considering I found her seemingly physically weakest on the first glance thus requires a pole weapon to maintain an edge in physical brawls regardless whether she surprisingly fares well in physical brawl like Ursula. An associate of mine, KatTheIndigoWolf, argued that she would likely cause more damage with a glaive when I asked them some suggestions about Geirskogul's capabilities. As much as I agree with them, the problem was I already established Lotte to have Celtic ancestry (specifically being the demigoddess descendant of Tuatha Dé Danann) and such polearm type suited her poorly as neither Celts nor Tuatha De Danann were known to wield glaives in historical and mythological accounts respectively. In the end, I settled with Geirdriful excels in elemental wind sword and/or spear combat. As of how Gerskogul glides through the air, I originally conceived it utilizing built-in glider pack before settles with a pair of mini broom-like devices inspired by flight pelts utilized by Ryūga Dōgai in GARO: Gold Storm Flight' movie. As with other Valkyrie Armors, it has meridian emerald glow not unlike those in both Garo: Vanishing Line and TRON franchise."
