Promise to Meet Again is the first prequel short of Little Witch Academia: Witches of Midgard. It was published in November 27, 2018 in Archive of Our Own and followed by Jasminka and Mo.

After a separation and betrayal, a witch and stage performer meets a little girl who inspired to become a witch like her and made a promise that they'll meet again.

Sometime after her show, Chariot talks to a young crying little girl, the 6-year old Akko, who lost her parents in the crowd, saying that she always thought of magic being the most wonderful thing in the world as much as those who could smile through hardships. She then tells the girl about a time when she and her late sister Elizabeth got lost in the forest as well as how she lost her entire family at the ocean, citing the tragedy as one of her drives to entertain everyone with her magic. Chariot then begins conjuring a floating xylophone for the two to play with, getting Akko to stop crying as they make a beautiful music together before setting out to find Akko's parents.
By a stroke of luck, Mr. and Mrs. Kagari find them and thank Chariot for finding their only child. Chariot and Kagaris then part ways, but not before Akko promises to her hero that they'll meet again as soon as she become a proper witch like the latter. Despite her relief, the promise filled the magical star's heart with sadness, as her unintended part in Croix's Noir Fuel Spirit plan had ruined the dream she instilled into the child or worse, carved her a path full of hardships Akko won't likely able to overcome...
Author's Note[]
This heartwarming short story, which serves as prequel for Little Witch Academia: Witches of Midgard, was inspired by two things: One is the scene in the first episode of tokusatsu show Kamen Rider Kuuga where Yusuke (main protagonist of the series) cheered up a young boy who lost his parents at the airport and a certain fan art depicting 6-years old Akko and Shiny Chariot taking pictures together. I found it would be heartwarming if Akko revealed to have directly met Chariot not long after her show but neither of them remember that night until at one point after events in episode 24 and 25 of the anime.
